I have serious doubts on this one, but it's always good to check (defenitly if you want to see a picture uploaded here).
Google video claims
The Day of the Triffids (1962)
is public domain.
I don't believe this and lost my trust in Google after they claimed Universal-picture All Quiet On The Western Front to be PD.
But if possible can someone check the status on Day of the Triffids (and if PD upload it)?;ei=l3O4SLbPFoPWigKNzO3bDA&q=Day+of+the+Triffids

The film has a valid copyright notice and it was registered in 1963 and renewed in 1990.

Type of Work: Motion Picture
Registration Number / Date: RE0000491410 / 1990-09-17
Renewal registration for: LP0000023722 / 1963-02-18 (in notice: 1962)
Title: Day of the Triffids. By Security Pictures, Ltd.
Copyright Claimant: MPH Films (PWH)
Variant title: Day of the Triffids.
Names: Security Pictures, Ltd. MPH Films

I know that in Australia the rights to this film are owned by a small company and that they license it to anyone who wants it rather cheaply. There is A LOT of cheap copyright programming that is regulalry parallel licensed to multiple DVD and video companies. Confuses a lot of people (and other DVD labels) because the multiple budget labels thing is the first thing they look for when they are trying to find out whether something is PD.
